Ben Kirkbride


Director

Ben is an experienced Work Health and Safety professional with over 22 years across high-risk, multi-industry environments, including construction, civil infrastructure, tunnelling, telecommunications, energy and renewables, logistics, rail, and industrial services. For more than 10 years, he has held senior HSEQ leadership roles with national responsibility for organisational risk governance, strategic safety programs, and cultural transformation across complex operational settings.

A Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (FAIHS) and a Certified OHS Professional, Ben also serves as Chair of the AIHS Mentoring Committee, leading initiatives to build capability and support early-career practitioners. His contribution to the profession has been recognised through multiple industry acknowledgements, including being awarded WHS Leader of the Year (Large Business) in 2025.

Ben’s strengths span strategic HSEQ leadership, systems thinking, organisational risk management, digital enablement, and strong stakeholder engagement. He is known for his practical, people-centred approach and his ability to translate strategy into meaningful, sustainable outcomes.

As a Director of the AIHS, Ben is focused on strengthening member value and engagement, elevating professional capability, enhancing governance and trust across the profession, and supporting digital improvements that modernise systems and member experience. He is committed to contributing to long-term strategic initiatives that advance the Institute’s impact and to serving the AIHS community with integrity, collaboration, and a strong focus on the continued evolution of the health and safety profession.
